Thermage in Richardson, TX

Thermage, a popular non-surgical treatment option, tightens loose skin on the face, back of the hands, chest, and neck. It works most effectively on the face, brows, cheeks, and jawline. Thermage is a radiofrequency treatment that works below the surface of the skin to reverse signs of aging.

Thermage is effective on:

  • The Eyes – Smooths fine lines and wrinkles on the upper and lower eyelids
  • The Face – Smooths and improves the appearance of droopy, wrinkled skin
  • The Body – Helps smooth bulges and uneven, dimpled skin

Thermage: What Makes It Work?

Skin laxity, a common consequence of aging, is mainly due to sagging and stretching of collagen protein in the dermis region. Thermage technology combats skin laxity by affecting the collagen protein.

Thermage uses radio frequency energy, which has strong penetrative power. When it is focused on the skin, it uniformly heats the layer of the deep dermis. This gentle but effective heating triggers production of collagen and tightens the existing collagen. New collagen is produced to compensate for the collagen lost due to the treatment.

When this new collagen is created in the skin, wrinkles are significantly reduced in the treated regions. When you see immediate skin tightening after the procedure, this is due to collagen contraction in the treated region.

The Treatment Procedure

A sensation of deep heating is induced in the area where the specialized treatment tip – called the ThermaTip – touches the skin. Damage to the visible skin layers is avoided by constant cooling of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) by using a specialized soothing aerosol formulation.

Duration of each pulse of radio frequency energy varies between two and seven seconds, and a half to three quarters of an inch is covered at a given time.

Results

After the procedure, subtle yet noticeable results are evident. There will be continued improvement in skin composition over the course of six months. Skin becomes tighter and firmer, with improved elasticity.

Results are specific to existing skin health; patients with healthy skin show drastic improvement immediately after the procedure, while achievement of the same results in others with damaged skin may take longer.

How Effective Is Thermage?

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are factors that influence the effectiveness of Thermage. The setting used during the procedure plays an important role in collagen tightening. To treat regions of high laxity, a higher setting of the ThermaTip is used.

Although the procedure is pain free at low settings, higher ranges may cause slight discomfort. Preparation for the treatment is tailored to the frequency used and the expected results.

A well-documented survey on the effectiveness of Thermage as a skin-tightening procedure shows that over 90 percent of patients noticed improvement in skin firmness over the course of six months and 82 percent noticed visible immediate results.

On closer examination, it was proved that collagen concentration did increase significantly even in cases where the outcome was below the expected results. In most patients, response time to the treatment was after a month. All treated patients show improved, firmer, more youthful skin.

All it takes is a single sitting of Thermage to trigger increased production of collagen for the next six months. The treatment is pain free with zero downtime. Thermage can also be used for different body parts like the abdomen for firmer contours of the stomach region.
